Chilling footage shows large gang of masked burglars terrorising neighbourhood

A gang of masked crooks was caught on a Ring doorbell camera terrorizing a neighborhood and plundering residents’ cars.

Police were called to the neighborhood in Antioch, Califonia and arrived five minutes later, but the gang fled and no arrests have yet been made.

Residents said they were too scared to confront the criminals themselves after being woken by the noise at around 2am on July 6.

“When I saw them I didn’t know what was happening. I was like, ‘I hope they don’t try to go through the garage’,” said Mike Allen, who had his car broken into that night.

Speaking to KRON 4, he said: “I was like, ‘I am not going out there by myself.’ It was about 10 of them.”

Although the Bay Area is becoming known for its crime problem, Antioch, California has been spared the worst of the scourge.

Allen said he saw the gang going through his girlfriend’s car and his neighbors shared similar stories with him.

He said: “They broke into my girlfriend’s car. She had her baby bag in the car. They went in there rummaging through everything.

“The following morning, I saw three other cars down the street that they did the same thing.”

Sergeant Price Kendall from the Antioch Police Department said that criminals usually work in smaller groups, so the size of the gang was surprising.

“It is unusual that you see that many people, a large group, would go around looking into cars and walking the neighborhood,” he said.

He noted that many of the cars robbed were unlocked and said the break-ins were “crimes of opportunity”. He declined to say if arrests were made.

Antioch is about 45 miles from San Francisco, a city plagued by homelessness and drug use where robbery is on the rise.
