Chelsea team news: Mauricio Pochettino makes harsh Sterling and Jackson calls vs Burnley

Attack: Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Mykhaylo Mudryk

Cole Palmer and Armando Broja were handed starts and impressed alongside Mudryk against Fulham, as the Albanian marked his first league start in nearly a year with a goal. However, Pochettino may opt to protect the young striker after a long rehabilitation from injury by restoring Jackson to the team after his suspension.

Pochettino did not comment on whether Sterling had recovered from his illness enough to start against Burnley, but Palmer could be handed the chance to carry on from his strong outing against Fulham on the opposite flank to Mudryk if the Ukrainian is considered ready to start again.

In total, Sterling, Palmer, Broja and Jackson will all feel that they deserve to start against Burnley and whichever players are left out can feel harshly done by – but that is the strength in depth Pochettino now has with his stars returning to full fitness.
