Channel 4 has publicly ridiculed Prince Andrew to plug its controversial West End-style musical show about the Duke of York. The PR stunt saw an advertising van promoting the slogan ‘If you miss it, you’d better have a decent alibi’ parked outside the infamous Pizza Express in Woking this morning. Andrew told Emily Maitlis on the BBC during the famous 2019 Newsnight interview he was at Pizza Express in Woking when pressed over allegations about his personal life.
The executive producer at Hat Trick Productions, Stu Mather, who produced the programme, poked fun at Andrew’s Pizza Express comment when promoting the show.
He said: “What better way to celebrate the festive season than with a hilarious musical, lampooning the country’s most high-profile pizza-lover?”
The remark popped up during the notorious interview when Ms Maitlis questioned where Prince Andrew was on a specific date in 2001.
He vehemently denied any wrongdoing and the claim was settled out of court.

Andrew explained he could not have been out clubbing because he was at home after attending a party at Pizza Express in Woking.
He told Newsnight: “I was with the children and I’d taken Beatrice to a Pizza Express in Woking for a party at I suppose four or five in the afternoon.
“And then because the duchess was away, we have a simple rule in the family that when one is away the other is there.”
The musical extravaganza launches tonight (December 29) at 9pm and is then available to stream on All 4.
Mr Hodgson, who is playing Andrew, said: “The story of Prince Andrew is tragedy and farce rolled into one, so why not add “musical” for good measure?
“Some might find the prospect of writing and performing their first TV musical a tad daunting. Not me. I found it completely terrifying.’
“But, we’ve pulled out all the stops, put every penny on screen, and let rip at an institution that would perhaps prefer us to forget about all this.”
The Duke of York was last seen publicly on Christmas Day when he attended the service at the Sandringham Church.
