Australian Open LIVE: Emma Raducanu sparks concerns as John McEnroe left fuming

This year’s Australian Open will get underway on Sunday, with the qualifiers already in progress ahead of the first Grand Slam event of 2024 in Melbourne Park. Novak Djokovic is again the clear favourite to claim the title in the men’s event, while Iga Swiatek is being tipped to take the women’s crown despite being yet to make the final down under.

Fans looking forward to an enticing build-up to the Australian Open were left angry yesterday (Tuesday) when Emma Raducanu’s charity match with Naomi Osaka was called off after both players pulled out. Many ticket holders took to social media to voice their anger, with some already en route to the venue by the time the decision was made.

After recent injury struggles, both players instead chose to hold back for the Grand Slam tournament, which gets underway on Sunday. Qualifying matches remain ongoing though, with the main draw taking place on Thursday.
