Arsenal could use Thomas Partey as a sweetener to sign four Barcelona players

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey continues to be linked with a move away from the club, with Spanish outlets reporting that Barcelona are attentive to his situation at the Emirates. The 30-year-old’s contract is up at the end of the season and the Gunners could let him leave, for the right price. Cash-strapped Barcelona may have a creative solution to prise him away, however, as Express Sport has taken a look at four potential swap deals that both Arsenal and Barcelona could benefit from.

Raphinha

With AS claiming that Barcelona are interested in Partey but lack the financial muscle to meet Arsenal’s valuation, offering Raphinha in a potential swap deal may appeal to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal attempted to sign the Brazilian when he decided to leave Leeds, but he ultimately opted against a move to north London at the time. However, the Gunners do still want to add another winger to Arteta’s squad and would partially help cover Bukayo Saka when the England star needs a rest.

Raphinha has continued to be linked with a move back to England and following this season’s emergence of Lamine Yamal, Barcelona could offer Raphinha in exchange for Partey.

Ferran Torres

Ferran Torres is a similar case to Raphinha, having been linked to Arsenal over the years but may be a more attractive target as the Spaniard can operate as a central striker. The Gunners lack a goalscorer through the middle and Torres could fill that void as opposed to fellow targets Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen.

Torres has reportedly grown frustrated with his lack of playing time at the Nou Camp and an opportunity to spearhead Arsenal’s attack, leaving in exchange for Partey, could be a win-win for all parties.

Sergi Roberto

Should Barcelona want to sign Partey in January but are unable to stump up the cash, one way to bring Arsenal’s asking price down would be to offer Sergi Roberto in return. He is out of contract at the end of the season and Xavi’s outfit would still need to pay a sizable fee for the Ghanaian, but the 31-year-old could help bridge the gap.

Roberto is thought of very highly by Arsenal and his versatility would be a major benefit in their Premier League title push. He was on their shopping list in 2022 and a move could finally be realised in January.
