American mocks Brits for always saying one thing when the temperature drops

A popular TikToker has made a tongue-in-cheek video claiming Brits always saying the same thing when it gets cold outside.

Yorkshire Peach made a video poking fun at one phrase she’s found to be popular during the winter months over the time she’s lived in the UK.

The video showed her walking through a wood, internally saying to herself: “Don’t you dare say it. Don’t you dare.” Before bursting out with: “It’s a cold one but at least it’s dry!”

It had the title “The Most British Winter Phrase” and she captioned the video: “#AmericanInTheUk If I had a dime”.

The post got almost 300,000 views and 22,000 likes. Hundreds took to the comments to laugh about the common phrase.

One said: “You really are one of us aren’t you?” Another added: The 90 days worth of rain we get in the next three days is on you.”

Other users added the winter phrases they used, such as “it’s a bit nippy”, “if it wasn’t for the wind” and “could be worse, at least it’s not raining”

More British-isms were also discussed, such as getting into a taxi and asking if the driver has been busy and awkward eye contact with people you pass on walks.

Yorkshire Peach is well-known on social media for her videos of things she’s noticed as an American living in the UK, gaining her 1.1million followers on TikTok and a total of 47.6million views.

Other videos she has made include her joy at getting a skip and UK brands that wouldn’t work in America such as Digestive biscuits and Galaxy Minstrels.

She has also made videos on the UK phrases she’d never heard before she moved here and the UK snacks that all Americans should try such as prawn cocktail and pickled onion crisps, Ribena and Refreshers sweets.
