Actor playing Prince William in The Crown turned up so hungover he 'puked on set'

One of the actors who is playing Prince William in the upcoming season of The Crown made one day’s filming “infinitely more complicated after he turned up hungover and puked on set”.

The claim, reported by PopBitch – a weekly UK-based celebrity and pop music newsletter, comes less than a month before the season six release.

The final season of the Netflix show about the Royal Family will be released in two parts – on November 16 and on December 14.

It is thought that the actor who struggled on set was Ed McVey, who plays an older Prince William in Part 2. Rufus Kampa plays a younger William in Part 1.

The PopBitch claim, which included embarrassing details on bowel movements, read: “Not to add to Wills’ woes, but he’s probably not going to be too chuffed with the reports we’ve heard about the actor portraying him either.

“One day’s filming was made infinitely more complicated after he turned up hungover and puked on set.

“He’s also apparently been having a bit of trouble with the on-location facilities, failing to use the flush pedal at the side of the loo and just leaving his turds to languish in the bowl instead.”

This comes as William is already thought to be very dismayed that the season will feature a ghost Princess Diana, who comes back to haunt Charles and Elizabeth II.

One of William’s friends told the Daily Beast that the Prince of Wales is “totally sickened” by the scenes of Diana’s ghost.

They added that it’s “incredibly hurtful” for the Prince of Wales to “have his mother exploited over and over again in this tawdry fashion by Netflix”.

Another friend of the late monarch commented on the scenes, telling the Daily Beast: “Thank God she will never even hear about it.”

A Netflix source defended the Diana scenes in the show.

They told the Telegraph: “After her death, Diana appears as part of an inner dialogue in separate scenes with Prince Charles and the Queen who are both reflecting on their relationship with the late Princess.

“These sensitive and thoughtful imagined conversations seek to bring to life the depth of emotion that was felt after such a seismic tragedy struck at the heart of the family.”

Season 6 brings viewers up to the late 1990s, with Part 1 following the romantic relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, leading up to their untimely deaths.

The Season 6 logline adds: “Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother’s death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion.

“As she reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the marriage of Charles and Camilla and the beginnings of a new Royal fairytale in William and Kate.”
