Yorkshire Dales beauty spot hits the market for £150k and it includes its own 170ft cliff

A beauty spot in the Yorkshire Dales National Park has been put on the market for £150,000. Kilnsey Crag soars up to 170ft and is a popular destination for tourists and locals in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire.

The dramatic-looking landmark has been described by agents as a “totally unique opportunity” for potential buyers.

Described as an “internationally appreciated” location, Kilnsey Crag was shaped by glaciers which once filled the surrounding valley and formed its sheer rock face thousands of years ago.

Together with Gordale Scar and Malham Cove, it forms one of the “Big Three” limestone crags in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

It is also known by rock climbers all over the world as one of the most iconic and challenging climbs to attempt.

“Kilnsey Crag is the backdrop and natural amphitheatre to the famous, annual Kilnsey Agricultural Show and is a popular tourist attraction.

“The sale offers significant natural capital, amenity, biodiversity and environmental opportunities and we fully expect its availability will capture the imagination of many interested buyers.”

The location is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and has a range of red-list flora and fauna, according to Savills.

The striking Crag also provides the backdrop to Kilnsey Agricultural Show, which takes place annually on the Tuesday after the summer Bank Holiday.

A highlight of the event is the British Open Fell Running Association fell race which attracts competitors from across the country with the highlight being the descent of the “chimney”, a steep crevice of rock in the crag face.
