A delivery driver left a man in stitches after leaving a note about the ‘hidden’ location of his parcel. The occupant couldn’t contain his laughter when he discovered the “safe place” that the delivery driver had chosen for his package.
Though the doormat is a perfect spot for small parcels and letters, it’s not ideal for large boxes. The customer, who uses Yodel, shared a comical video on TikTok reading out the driver’s delivery note which stated: “Sorry I missed you when I came to deliver the parcel”.
He noticed that the driver ticked off the ‘under the doormat’ option suggesting where he could find the parcel upon retrieval. The video cuts to him opening his front door to reveal a massive box standing approximately 3ft tall with the doormat balancing unsteadily on top – with no disguise in mind at all.
He captioned the TikTok video ‘Sorry they missed me!’ and included a laughing emoji. The hilarious clip has already gained more than 1.7 million views with people commenting that the video had “made my day”.
After the video went viral, user @ShowbizJones explained in another post that the laughable hiding place was part of a breezy exchange between him and the driver, the Mirror reports.
He revealed that he was upstairs when the parcel arrived and was a bit slow in descending to answer the door, resulting in the delivery guy starting the “we missed you” note.
The customer, in an attempt not to miss his delivery, popped his head out of a window and requested that the Yodel worker leave the parcel under the doormat.
The carrier completed the comical form and dutifully put the item where asked, leaving ‘Showbiz Jones’ grinning from ear to ear.
Viewers were entertained by this light-hearted fiasco, with one asking: “Do you think the thief would see it?” Another quipped: “Don’t know what’s more funny, the video or the laugh” A further viewer chimed in: “That is the most discreet place I have ever seen. Haha very funny.”
