'Worst remake ever': Tallest MP's picture with PM compared to iconic 80s comedy

With Labour head and shoulders ahead in most polls at the moment, the tallest Tory in Parliament has set social media alight sharing a photograph of himself posing his six-foot-nine frame alongside the five-foot-six-inch Prime Minister. In the eye-catching snap shared on Shrewsbury & Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski’s Instagram account, Mr Kawczynski towers over his party leader Rishi Sunak, with the contrast being compared to the 1989 comedy film Twins, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger’s charater finds his long-lost sibling to be anything but identical.

Mr Kawczynski, who represents Shrewsbury and Atcham, said he was “raising concerns” over the management of his local Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust and delays to modernisation works.

Despite the image looking like Mr Kawczynski’s concerns might have gone completely over the head of the Prime Minister, the Shropshire MP has previously said he hopes to secure a start to the £312 million construction project before the next election.

Rishi Sunak could be facing a tall order at the ballot box for upcoming by-elections with the effects of the mortgage crisis and soaring bills leading to many polls having Labour head and shoulders above the Tories.

But since the photograph was shared today many on social media have been less interested in high-minded political discussion and more fascinated in the height differences between the two men.

Underneath Mr Kawczynski’s Instagram post in which he talked about “raising concerns” one quick-witted commentator said: “Hope you didn’t raise them too high or Rishi won’t be able to reach them.”

Elsewhere a movie fan referenced the photo with the famous comedy films Twins, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, with the words: “worst remake ever.”

Continuing the film theme, someone else referenced the 1989 cult sci-fi film ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’, with the words: “Honey I shrunk the PM.”

Another person commented: “So nice for Daniel Kawczynski to let the work experience have a photo with him” and one person asked the MP: “Did you take him out your pocket for this photo?”

With someone else chiming in with a bizarre suggestion: “why does daniel kawczynski, the biggest mp, not simply eat the other mps.”

A poster who is perhaps not a fan of the Conservative leader added: “Rishi comes up short again.”

Rishi Sunak is the shortest Prime Minister since Sir Winston Churchill, with the wartime leader being the same height. The PM also shares his stature with a current military leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.
