'World's oldest man' born same year sank Titanic eats fish and chips every week

The “world’s oldest man” eats fish and chips every Friday and believes the secret to a long life is just “good luck”.

John Alfred Tinniswood, a 111-year-old man from Southport, England, has officially been recognised as the world’s oldest living man by Guinness World Records.

The previous record holder, Juan Vicente Perez, died at 114 on Wednesday, leaving John to take his place.

Perez died just one month short of his 115th birthday.

In an interview with Guinness, where he received his certificate, Tinniswood said: “You either live long or you live short, and you can’t do much about it”.

Currently, this great-grandfather lives in a care home in the seaside town of Southport, England.

Care home boss, Katie Howard told the BBC about their pleasure in caring for Tinniswood. Describing him as an “amazing individual with so many stories to tell,” who “enjoys reading the paper and listening to the radio.”
