World's most expensive 'hotel' is £232k a night submarine with glass walls

The most expensive “hotel” in the world is reportedly a glass lined submarine in the Caribbean with the dearest room costing £232,000 ($292,000).

Located in St Lucia, The Lover’s Deep Submarine can sail to wherever its mega-rich guests want it to around the Caribbean and is only available to the world’s “elite”.

According to the LUXE Digital website, an exclusive package at the “hotel” includes a private chef, butler and a captain dedicated to his or her vessel’s guests.

LUXE Digital says patrons of The Lover’s Deep will also enjoy a “champagne soaked” breakfast.

The luxury sub is more than twice the price of Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, which charges £80,000 ($100,000) per night.

Looking like a giant jenga puzzle with rooms stacked one on top of another, the Dubai hotel welcomed guests for the first time in 2023.

Beyoncé stayed in a room measuring 11,000sq ft ahead of a performance at The Royal. That room, called The Royal Mansion, is described as the hotel’s crown jewel.

Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas charges £80,000 ($100,000) per night for its Empathy Suite, designed by British artist Damien Hurst.

The hotel’s penthouses include a 24 hour butler service, views of Las Vegas Strip and the Nevada desert. It also boasts theatre acts including ZZ Top and Il Divo scheduled to appear later this year.

And of course there is a casino with more than 1,500 slot machines and roulette tables surrounding one of Hurst’s pickled shark installations.

Closer to Britain, and a fraction of the price of The Lover’s Deep, is Grand Resort Lagonissi in Athens, which costs £39,700 ($50,000) per night for The Royal Villa suite.

LUXE Digital describes that hotel as being where you would expect Greek gods and goddesses to live.

On the Athenian Riviera, the villa’s indoor and outdoor heated pools, sea-level private deck, terrace garden and private massage areas “make it almost impossible to leave”, according to LUXE Digital.

It adds that if you do want to leave, you will likely be escorted “by helicopter, yacht or chauffeur-driven limousines”.
