Interesting comments from WST president Barry Hearn, who has told snooker stars the ball is in their court if they want to form a breakaway tour.
“Every individual has got to make the right choice as to what’s going to benefit himself and his family,” he said.
“If you are coming towards the end of a career, you’d be insane not to go where the best money is. Frankly, I know those sort of breakaway tours don’t really have a great deal of commercial value. I’ve heard figures of £2-300,000 guaranteed. Well if you’re in the top 16 next year, you’re guaranteed £200,000 before you take your cue out.”
