Woman officer raped by PC David Carrick 20 years ago kept quiet over 'not believed' fears

Rapist police officer David Carrick sexually attacked one of his own colleagues in the Met 20 years ago – but she never reported the crime for fear of not being believed, the woman has said. Carrick, 48, was convicted earlier this month of a string of sex attacks.

Explaining her reasons, the woman told The Times: “It’s not because I didn’t want to, I didn’t think I would be believed.”

Carrick, who worked with the woman for a short period of time, attacked her in 2004 at his hom, she said.

They were based at police stations “in opposite parts of London” and she finally she reported the attack in October 2021, when his name was was released after he was charged with another rape.
