Woman found dead in Italian church was ‘dressed like vampire’ and ‘looking for ghosts’

A 22-year-old French woman was found dead in an abandoned church in Italy over the weekend after allegedly looking for ghosts for a TikTok video, police said.

The woman had told family members about her plans before her body was found drained of blood in the church in northern Italy’s Aosta Valley, a police spokesperson in La Salle said to CNN.

Police believe the woman’s death could be related to a ghost hunting competition being played in France on TikTok.

Other theories include beliefs her death was a “consented murder” or sacrifice, or an attempt to carry out a social media prank.

A young man was reportedly seen with the woman before the incident, police said.

In addition, there are two other missing persons cases in the area that could be related to the alleged TikTok stunt, police said.

The police spokesperson told CNN that the victim and her male friend were seen in the area dressed “like vampires.”

According to a witness interviewed by police, the woman looked pale, “emaciated,” and like a “walking corpse,” while the man had dark hair and olive skin.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was allegedly stabbed with a camping knife and had bled to death, a medical examiner determined, according to investigators.

The victim also had two gunshot wounds to her neck and one to her stomach, which police believe may have been inflicted following her death.

While there were no signs of a struggle, some of the blood had been removed from the crime scene, CNN reported.

The woman had been wearing beige leggings and a sweatshirt under a long coat. A pack of marshmallows and other groceries were found near her body, but she had no personal belongings, police said.

A local resident was the one to discover her body, police said.

Area prosecutor Manlio D’Ambrosi said to local news outlets that police are investigating a van that was spotted on surveillance footage near the church last week.
