A woman is eating cat food due to the cost of living crisis over Christmas, a report has claimed. A parish councillor in Solihull revealed the decision taken by the resident when he was speaking about the work of a community “Friday hub”, which is run for over 60s.
Michael Connolly, a Chelmsley Wood parish councillor, labelled the group’s work as “invaluable”.
According to Birmingham Mail, Mr Connolly said: “It’s absolutely fantastic.
“We’ve got people who have nowhere else to go.
“We’ve got people who don’t have anybody to spend time with.
Rather than being termed as pensioners, the group has decided to re-christen themselves as “the recycled teenagers.”
According to the Mirror, visitor numbers have ballooned since it launched six weeks ago.
