Woman banned from town centre after bringing 'misery to residents'

A woman has been banned from a town centre and from entering local shops after bringing “misery to residents and businesses”.

Lauren Wilson has been issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), which she must adhere to for the next three years.

The 26-year-old is banned from entering parts of Macclesfield town centre; anyone who spots her breaking these terms is asked to inform the police.

She was handed the order at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on April 19, meaning she is forbidden from entering the Tesco Superstore on Hibel Road, the Co-op on Hurdsfield Road, or the McColls on Hurdsfield Green.

Wilson, of no fixed abode but from Macclesfield, Greater Manchester, can now only enter the town centre if it is for any pre-arranged appointments, or she could be fined or return to prison for up to five years, reports The Manchester Evening News.

Sergeant Matt Bassirat, of Cheshire Police said: “This is a great result for Macclesfield as we have hindered another prolific offender from continuing to bring misery to residents and businesses in the town.

“The time spent by officers dealing with such prolific offenders takes officers away from those who need our service most.

“I’d like to thank the courts for issuing this order and hope that this shows our residents that we will continue to use all the powers available to us to ensure that we make Macclesfield even safer.

“Wilson will be under the CBO until 19 April 2026 and if she fails to comply with any of the conditions, she could be imprisoned for up to five years.”

A Criminal Behaviour Order is an order designed to tackle the most serious and persistent anti-social individuals whose behaviour has brought them before a criminal court.
