Woman accused of treating husband 'like a child' after sharing snap of packed lunch

A woman has been accused of treating her husband “like a child” after sharing an innocent picture of the packed lunch she had made for him. The unnamed woman uploaded the picture to Facebook group Budget Friendly Meals Australia where she quickly received numerous comments. Her image showed the sandwich she had made for her partner, as well as some crackers in a tub, cut up cheese and sausages, a muesli bar and some fruit.

The items had all been arranged neatly on the kitchen side ready for her husband, who works as a builder, to take to work with him.

His wife added that the lunch was “cheaper, fresher and healthier” than some of the options available on a construction site.

But it wasn’t the food itself that angered people – it was the fact that it had been prepared for him in the first place.

The image sparked a debate about gender roles in this day and age with many saying that the man should be making his own lunch.

Some berated the woman for “waiting on him hand and food” and treating him “like a child”.

One person said: “Do we have to feed them during the day now too?”

The comments became so cruel that moderators of the group had to remove a number of them.

Not everyone was mean to the woman though, some were much more supportive.

A different user wrote: “No more comments about whether you agree or disagree with packing your significant other’s lunch for them.”

Another replied: “Each to their own, nobody is forcing you to pack husband’s lunch. Move on if you don’t agree with it.”

A couple of users also were encouraged to share photos of the packed lunches they make for their own loved ones.
