A 21-year-old woman was found dead in a shopping cart almost two months after going missing from an Uber ride. Rosa Chacon went missing in January 18 after getting into the cab. Richart Detective Agency, a Chicago-based private investigator firm, revealed Chacon had died in an update on Thursday.
The agency said: “Working closely with the family, we located Rosa Chacon. Unfortunately Rosa was found deceased.
“With the information we had the medical examiner was able to make a positive identification on Ms Chacon.
“Keep her family in your prayers as it is a very difficult time for them. Thank you all for sharing [our posts about her].”
Richart Detective Agency, was brought onto the case after Rosa’s family “reached out for assistance”, issued a mission person appeal online on March 7.
Investigator Jose L Richart added: “The family contacted our office for assistance because they recognise that the city of Chicago has many cases like this.

“We began our investigation and obtained Rosa Chacon’s phone records… We spoke to many individuals and followed numerous leads.
“On Wednesday, March 15, a body was discovered in the area of 24th Place and Western Ave in Chicago.
“It is believed that the body was in some sort of laundry cart wrapped in sheets.
“The body was taken to the Cook County Morgue where it could not be identified for reasons I can not share at this time… At that time Rosa Chacon was identified as Jane Doe.”
Richart also confirmed the family were informed after Rosa’s body was identified by a detective at Cook County Morgue on Thursday.
The case is thought to be a homicide and Chicago Police are now working “diligently” to find results.
Officers are waiting for tests to show how the victim died.
Rosa’s family also she had been found wrapped in a white sheet inside a shopping cart.
The victim’s mother, also named Rosa Chacon, told Action 5 News: “I don’t know how they have a heart to do somebody like that.”
Jose Lucio, Rosa’s father, added: “I miss my baby.”
Rosa’s family said they turned to private detectives after fearing the police had dismissed concerns.
Anyone with information about Rosa’s disappearance or death should contact Chicago Police.
The local community is offering a reward of $15,000 for information which leads to a conviction.
