A classic bingo call has been labelled offensive, with one in four people questioned wanting it scrapped.
The phrase ‘two fat ladies’ has been called to describe the number 88, but a new poll has found Brits find it outdated.
Betting site Paddy Power Games asked 2,000 users if they found the phrase acceptable.
A total of 24 percent of people asked believed that ‘two fat ladies’ should be scrapped.
The demographics who disagreed with the phrase most were those aged 18 to 24, 37 percent against, and those who described their gender as ‘other’, 38 percent against.
Next were those aged 25 to 39 and women, both 24 percent against.
Of those aged 40 to 55, 19 percent were against the phrase, of those aged 56 to 74, 16 percent were against, and 18 percent of men called for it to go.
Londoners were mostly likely to complain, followed by those from Cardiff.
A spokesman for the betting site said: “Gen Zers feel quite strongly the phrase is past its sell-by date but that opinion is shared to a lesser extent across the generations and geographically.
“One in three Londoners find it unacceptable, but just one in ten in Newcastle.”
Other classic bingo calls include ‘pick and mix’ for 26, ‘Winnie the Pooh’ for 42 and ‘bang on the drum’ for 71.
