'William is Diana's double!' Fans spot sweet link in Prince of Wales's Father's Day photo

Royal fans have been quick to point out similarities between a new photograph of the Prince of Wales with his children, to one of his late mother, Princess Diana. The Prince and Princess of Wales released the snap to mark Father’s Day on Sunday. The photo, taken at Windsor Castle shows William, 40, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte beside him and his youngest, Prince Louis, hugging him from behind. The shot had been likened to a photograph of Diana with William and Prince Harry as it shows William in the exact same position.

The old photo, taken at Highgrove House in 1988, shows five-year-old William and three-year-old Harry alongside their late mother.

The royals even opted for a similar colour scheme with the Waleses in shades of blue and white, similar to those in the earlier photograph.

Prince William can be seen with a cheeky smile with his arms around his mother’s neck, just like Prince Louis with his arms around his father’s neck.

Fans quickly pointed out the similarities after it was shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s official Twitter account.

In a tweet that was liked more than 3,500 times one user said: “Prince William clinging lovingly to his mother. Over 30 years later, he gets to experience what it felt like for Diana as well.”

Commenting on the photo another user on Twitter said: “William is Diana’s double. She would be so proud of him.”

The post came the day after the family were out in full force to mark the King’s first official birthday parade and Trooping the Colour.

All three Wales children joined their parents for the occasion with five-year-old Louis stealing the show yet again.

The young royal delighted fans with his animated facial expressions and cheeky antics on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the flyover on Saturday.

Louis has become a fan favourite after his regular antics at official royal events over the past few years.

One picture captured by photographers showed him pulling a face has he clenched his nose, appearing to stifle a sneeze as the carriage made its way up the Mall.

Another appeared to show him saluting to crowds watching on as the royals took their place on the balcony.

The Prince looked adorable dressed in a shirt and double-breasted suit jacket, with a tie and pair of red shorts accompanying the number.
