Wife shares bloody photo of US Border Patrol agent after 'brutal attack by migrant'

A shocking photo has emerged of a bloodied Border Patrol agent allegedly injured by a migrant aggressively crossing into the US from Mexico.

The image was shared by Mayra Flores, 37, a former Republican congresswoman from Texas and wife of the unnamed border officer.

It appeared on her social media accounts on Sunday, alongside a photograph of a migrant also covered in blood with a chilling tattoo, thought to be linked to cartels, on his forehead.

Under the picture, taken near McAllen, Texas, Flores wrote: “This is the type of violence that is being exerted on Border Patrol Agents by those who don’t want to be apprehended.

“The suspect was labeled a rat by the cartels and fought against the agent until backup arrived.

The marking on the migrants forehead appears to read ‘X KATA’.

Flores, a Republican, formerly represented Texas’s 34th congressional district in the House of Representatives from 2022 to 2023.

She made history as the first female Mexican-born member of the House and launched a comeback bid in July after losing her seat to Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez.

Her campaign focuses on empowering agents, enhancing border security and improving the protection of trafficked children.

“Our values align with the Republican Party. Our values align. I am pro-God, pro-life, pro-family. The Democrat Party stands against everything we stand for,” she said at her campaign launch, according to Politico.

Meanwhile, video footage shared recently captured the moment around 5,000 migrants, mostly from Venezuela, sprung into action as a train arrived on the outskirts of the central Mexican city of Irapuato.

This event occurred as a result of safety concerns related to migrants hitching rides on freight trains.

The country’s largest railroad, Ferromex, had halted 60 freight trains due to several injuries or deaths involving migrants in just a few days.

Police were stationed in the area where migrants had been waiting, but there was no attempt to prevent them from boarding the train.

These freight trains, collectively referred to as ‘The Beast’ have long been used by migrants.

In August, the US Border Patrol recorded 181,509 arrests at the border, marking a 37 percent increase from July but showed little change compared to August 2022.

It’s also notably below the peak of over 220,000 arrests recorded in December, according to statistics released on Friday.

The Biden administration has been urging Mexico and Central American countries to take steps to manage the flow of migrants and recently implemented a new requirement for asylum seekers to register through an app called CBP One.
