Trooping the Colour is a grand royal spectacle marked by a parade of hundreds of soldiers. Members of the Royal Family make an appearance, attending on either elaborate carriages or, like King Charles III, on horseback.
The event occurs every year, typically in June, and marks the official birthday of the British monarch. The event became annual in 1760, although dates back centuries.
Following the annual military parade, the King is set to be joined on the Buckingham Palace by various members of the Royal Family.
Last month’s Coronation is set to be a blueprint for who will be allowed to step out onto the balcony on Saturday.
Here, Express.co.uk looks into who is, and who isn’t, set to make an appearance on the balcony on June 17.

Who is set to appear on the Balcony?
King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who were officially crowned last month, will appear to wave to spectators gathered outside Buckingham Palace.
The royal couple are set to be joined by other senior members of the Royal Family, with the recent Coronation holding a big clue as to who could appear.
The King and Queen will likely be joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, as the most senior royal couple after the sovereign.
The future King and Queen also made an appearance on the balcony last month after King Charles’s Coronation ceremony.

The couple’s three children – nine-year-old Prince George, eight-year-old Princess Charlotte and five-year-old Prince Louis – will also be expected to make an appearance. The trio are often dubbed the future of the monarchy and, even at their young ages, have many appearances under their belt.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh is also expected to appear, along with their two teenage children, Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex.
Edward and Sophie’s royal presence has grown significantly over the past few years so their appearance is expected.
James and Louise are also likely to join their parents on the balcony. They both appeared on May 6 for the King’s Coronation balcony appearance.
Due to their stance as senior royals, Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tomothy Laurence are also expected to appear.
It is also likely that the King has asked Princess Alexandra of Kent, the Duke of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester to join them as they remain working royals.

Will Prince Andrew appear on Saturday?
Prince Andrew is not expected to appear at this year’s event as he is no longer a senior working royal. He did not attend last year’s Trooping the Colour.
Last June, the digraced royal was snubbed from the most important event at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and this year, it is expected to be no different.
As colonel of the Grenadier Guards, Prince Andrew had previously held an important role at the military parade. However, since being stripped of his titles, he no longer holds the position of a working royal.
As well as at Trooping the Colour, Andrew is not expected to appear at this year’s Order of the Garter Day procession at Windsor Castle on June 19.

Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be present?
Like Andrew, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not expected to attend Trooping the Colour as they are no longer senior working royals.
The couple, who now reside in the US, stepped back from the Firm in 2020, and have only attended a scattered amount of royal events since.

Who else is not expected to appear on the Balcony?
Last year, it was confirmed that only senior working royals would appear on the balcony for Trooping the Colour, which occurred at the start of the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told reporters earlier in the year: “After careful consideration, The Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd June will be limited to Her Majesty and those Members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of The Queen.”
It is likely that this will remain the case for this year’s event, and if so, royals such as Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not appear alongside senior royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
