Wetherspoons price hike as pint prices rise but firm says still 'competitive'

“The 7.5 percent increase is less than the rate of inflation.”

Last month, JD Wetherspoon, which runs 844 pubs across Britain and Ireland, reported sales growth of 13.1 percent in the 25 weeks leading to January 22.

This was a drop of 0.7 percent compared to pre-Covid levels for the same period.

Wetherspoons has sold off 19 pubs and put another 35 on the market.

The pub industry is facing difficulties due to the rise of maintenance costs such as energy, as well a hike in the cost of ingredients.
