Voters’ letter to Santa on ‘naughty’ Boris Johnson

Pollsters Ipsos asked more than 2,000 people who they would put on Santa’s “naughty list” this year.

The top two choices were Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin (59 per cent) and former US president Donald Trump (51 per cent).

But the findings also make grim reading for the former Tory PM, with just under half (46 per cent) believing he should not be getting presents.

Other Downing Street residents do not escape punishment. Rishi Sunak is considered to have been naughty by 40 per cent and 36 per cent said the same about Liz Truss.

Meanwhile, 34 per cent would put the former home secretary Suella Braverman on this list, with 32 per cent saying Santa should overlook former Ukip leader Nigel Farage.

Scotland’s ex-First Minister Nicola Sturgeon should go without, say three in 10 people, and 26 per cent say Mayor of London Sadiq Khan belongs on the naughty list, with 21 per cent also wanting Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to miss out.

Meanwhile, NHS staff topped the nice list for the fourth year running.

Keiran Pedley, Ipsos’s research director, said: “These findings do tell us a little bit about the state of opinion as 2023 draws to a close.”
