Virgin plane forced to emergency land in UK after smell of smoke filled the cockpit

A Virgin Atlantic aircraft had to turn around after pilots declared an emergency mid-flight as the plane was over the Atlantic.

Virgin Atlantic flight VS77 was met by fire trucks upon its return to the runway after a near miss.

According to AirLive, the pilots declared a general emergency on the Airbus A330 which reportedly suffered a “technical issue” and allegedly caused smoke to fill the cockpit.

Pilots reported dense and acrid smoke before they landed back at Manchester Airport who said they could confirm the plane had landed.
