Video shows shocking moment schoolboy Tasered by police after 'neighbour row'

A video has shown the shocking moment a teen schoolboy was Tasered to the ground by police.

West Midlands Police officers were called to a property in Bromford, Birmingham, on Monday following news of a “civil matter between neighbours”, with officers arriving at roughly 5.20pm.

Mobile phone footage revealed the result of the visit that evening, with an officer seen wrestling a 14-year-old boy to the ground in front of a crowd of people.

They can be heard shouting “get off him, get off him” before the boy escapes his grasp.

The same officer reacts by training his taser on the youngster.

The video shows the officer shooting the boy with an estimated 50,000 volts, causing him to collapse on the grass.

His mum shouts “he’s 14” in the background and adds: “What the f**k have you done to my son?”

The officer told the boy not to move after he had fallen to the floor, eliciting calls from the gathered crowd.

Some people can be heard shouting: “Watch his asthma, look he can’t breathe, he’s a child.”

The officer responds by asking people to stand back and adding: “I don’t care, I don’t care.”

The video, which was posted online to the Birmz is Grime blog, has since gained thousands of views, with shocked social media users condemning the officer.

One user said a taser is a “potentially a lethal weapon that can kill”, while another added: “If you can’t handle a 14 yr old kid in a school uniform who poses no threat to life and have to taser him while with another police officer, you both probably should not be a Bobby.”

One user was supportive of the police, commending WMP for its “brilliant work”, adding the incident was “very well handled” as the officer was “surrounded by a violent aggressive crowd”.

WMP said in a statement following the incident that the 14-year-old and a 37-year-old man were arrested.

A spokesperson said: “We’re investigating after being called to a neighbour dispute in Kempson Road, Hodge Hill just before 5pm yesterday (16 Oct).”

“Several residents were arguing, there were allegations of physical violence and the two officers were faced with a hostile crowd.

“As they attempted to diffuse the situation, threats of criminal damage were made. One of the officers tried to arrest the suspect, but he resisted and the officer was further attacked by another man.

“During the scuffle, a 14-year-old boy was Tasered. A 37-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and remain in custody.
