VDL's political party offices raided by police over election corruption allegations

Belgian Police raided the offices of the European People’s Party in Brussels on Tuesday over alleged corruption during the party’s campaign for the 2019 EU elections. The party is the home of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as well as her CDU German political home.

However, the Commission leader is not connected to the alleged case of corruption.

Her CDU ally, Mario Voigt, who was the digital campaign manager for EPP leader Manfred Weber during the 2019 election campaign, is believed to be at the heart of the case.
