US Grand Prix fans turn on Max Verstappen with brutal chant at Red Bull star

Max Verstappen was subjected to a chorus of boos on the podium after beating Lewis Hamilton to victory at the United States Grand Prix. The Dutchman fought back from sixth on the grid to take the chequered flag despite being put under heavy pressure by his Mercedes rival and Lando Norris, who ended up finishing third.

The result marked a significant milestone for Verstappen, who was able to celebrate his 50th victory in F1 on the podium after the race. However, the occasion was somewhat marred by loud boos from the thousands of fans in attendance as the Red Bull man collected his winner’s trophy.

More boos were clearly heard during the Dutch national anthem, with many taking the opportunity to declare their support for Sergio Perez by chanting his name. The Mexican driver has been subjected to fierce criticism from the likes of Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko in recent months after failing to keep up with Verstappen in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
