Ukrainian President Zelensky embraces Rishi Sunak like a brother as pair meet at summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warmly embraced Prime Minister Rishi Sunak today as the pair met at a key summit in Spain.

Photographs show the wartime leader smiling and enthusiastically hugging the PM seemingly as a thank you for Britain’s unwavering support so far in the war against Putin’s Russian invasion.

Fresh from his barn-storming speech at the Conservative Party conference Mr Sunak looked happy and animated as the pair exchanged cordial words at the European Political Community forum in Granada.

Mr Sunak urged the 50 or so leaders at the gathering to hold their nerve in the face of Russian aggression and said: “When it comes to facing down the threat from Putin, there is strength in unity.”

Key areas of discussion for the summit include aid provision for the Ukrainian people as the harsh winter sets in, as well as talks around furthering financial backing and weapons donations, including supplying fighter jets and long-range weapons.
