Ukraine war LIVE: Putin humiliated as Ukraine wipes out power in seven Russian settlements

The western Russian region of Kursk was battered for yet another night by a drone offensive.

Overnight, seven settlements in the area neighbouring Ukraine were left without power after what appeared to be a successful attack carried out by an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The local governor, Roman Starovoyt, pointed the finger at Ukraine – which in turn has rarely claimed responsibility for attacks outside its borders and hasn’t yet taken responsibility for this one.

Mr Starovoyt wrote on Telegram: “In the morning, in the village of Snagost, Korenevsky district, a Ukrainian drone dropped an explosive device on an electrical substation, cutting off power to 7 settlements.”

The attack didn’t harm any resident, the governor added.

He also wrote on the messaging platform: “Emergency crews will begin restoring power supply as soon as conditions allow.”

This comes one day after the Russian military claimed to have downed two Ukrainian drones in this same region.

Moscow also said to have hit with its air defence systems two other drones in Bryansk and another flying over Belgorod.

Four, they added, were also shot down over Crimea, the Ukrainian territory annexed by Moscow in 2014.
