Ukraine war LIVE: Kyiv troops 'make major move' as they cross key river to Russian side

Ukrainian troops have crossed the Russian-held east bank of Kherson Oblast and has begun to transfer a “limited number of “armoured vehicles”, Russian sources have claimed.

A number of Russian military bloggers also strengthened reports regarding this significant development, making several allegations regarding Ukrainian vehicles being spotted on the east bank near Krynky.

Most notably among this swirl of reports regarding Kyiv establishing a presence across the Dnipro River, some Russian milbloggers “claimed that more than 300 Ukrainian personnel (about a battalion’s worth) are operating on the east bank in the Krynky area”, a Kherson village located near the east bank of the Dnipro, “and continue to claim that Ukrainian forces maintain positions in central Krynky and nearby areas”, the US think tank Institute for the Study of War reported.

Another milblogger, the ISW continued, claimed “several hundred Ukrainian personnel are operating throughout east bank Kherson Oblast”.

While stressing it won’t speculate on the current Ukrainian activity on the east bank of the Dnipro, the ISW argued Ukraine’s forces may be conducting initial assaults onto the east bank of the region.

The reported presence of a battalion-size force grouping on the east bank, the think tank added, suggests that “heavy Russian interdiction efforts along the Dnipro River have not prevented Ukrainian forces from transferring additional personnel and materiel to positions on the east bank.”
