Ukraine LIVE: Russia's last-ditch scramble as new T-14 tanks deployed in 'high-risk' plan

Russia is considering deploying a “small number of its new T-14 Armata main battle tanks in Ukraine” to combat the hundreds of armoured personnel carriers and British Challenger 2 tanks pledged to the defending forces in the last few weeks, the latest update from the British Ministry of Defence has claimed. Satellite images from late December, reposted by the MoD, showed a small number of the T-14s at a training base in southern Russia “associated with pre-deployment activity for the Ukraine operation”. However, given the question marks over the combat-readiness, the MoD suggested the move was “primarily for propaganda purposes” and that it would be a “high-risk decision for Russia”.
