Russian strikes in the last 24 hours have killed five and injured a further 17, including a five-year-old child, Ukrainian officials have claimed.

In Kharkiv Oblast, northeast Ukraine, two brothers were killed, while their 70-year-old father was hospitalised, after strikes hit their residential building in the early hours of Friday.

Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov said: “Russian troops fired on a residential building in Barvinkove, Kharkiv Oblast, at around 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, killing two men.

“Two brothers, 49 and 42 years old, died. Their father, aged 70, was injured and hospitalised.”

Ukraine’s state broadcaster Suspilne said a further two people had been killed in the southern region of Kherson, while another had been killed in the eastern region of Donetsk.

In a statement on Telegram, they said: “Over the past 24 hours, one person was killed by Russian shelling in Donetsk region, and eight others were injured.

“In the Kherson region, two people were killed in a day, nine more were injured, among them a five-year-old child.”
