Vladimir Putin has been dealt a huge symbolic blow after new figures suggested the number of Russian troops killed in Ukraine since the start of his invasion has surged past 150,000. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s latest bulletin provides an exhaustive list of losses it claims Russia has suffered since February 24, the day Putin ordered his full-scale invasion.

This puts the number of personnel “liquidated” at 150,605, up 715 from yesterday.

The Ministry also claims 300 Russian aircraft have been destroyed, 3397 tanks and 2398 artillery systems.

Separately, the Kyiv Independent tweeted: “The Ukrainian Air Force shot down one Russian Su-25 jet, one Mi-24 helicopter, and seven unmanned aerial vehicles over the past day, according to the March 2 General Staff report.”
