UK weather maps show exact date 250 mile wall of snow will smash into country

New weather maps have revealed the exact date a wall of snow will hit the UK from London to Newcastle.

Britain has enjoyed a spell of mild weather of late, but all this could be about to end with the latest weather maps from WXCharts predicting snow to fall next week.

The latest maps suggest snow will start to hit parts of Scotland mid-way through next week before reaching Newcastle and Manchester by Saturday, February 10.

But by Sunday, February 18, the majority of the country is predicted to be hit with the white stuff with the large wall of snow hitting Newcastle, London, Southampton, Cardiff and Birmingham.

However, the predictions are to be taken with a pinch of salt as the Met Office says it is incredibly difficult to predict snow in long-range forecasts.

In its prediction for the next five days, the Met Office said southern England and Wales would be “rather cloudy” overnight tonight, while there will be rain in the north of England.

Its five-day forecast for Sunday read: “Heavy rain affecting western Scotland. Lighter rain across Northern Ireland, northern England and Welsh hills. Drier but cloudy further southeast, whilst brighter and showery across northeast Scotland. Staying windy.”

The Met Office added that Monday could see rain and snow in Scotland, while weather will be “wet and windy” across the country early next week.

In its long-range forecast from Thursday to Saturday, February 17, said the UK can expect “wintry” showers.

The forecast read: “Initially mainly cloudy, dry and cold across northern areas, milder in the south with rain increasing from the southwest.

“Rain pushing back north through Thursday with snow for a time across the northern edge of this likely with accumulations over high ground but also a transient threat at lower levels. Remaining unsettled Friday with further wind and rain likely, again wintry on the northern edge of this.

“Through the weekend a change toward a north or north-westerly wind brings cold conditions spreading across the UK with wintry showers across coasts by Sunday but clearer inland as rain clears southeast.

“A further change expected mid-week as high pressure becomes increasingly dominant. Temperatures potentially recovering to average with this, though any prolonged clear skies liable to bring localised frosts and fog risk.”
