UK weather map shows white Christmas ruined with only one area getting snow

Hopes of a white Christmas for the UK may be dashed as new maps show only a tiny part of the country is set to get snow.

Weather maps show small amounts of snow set to fall on part of Scotland’s west coast, from Ullapool to Glenfinnan.

WXCharts has predicted this small amount of snow as well as rain in the same area, in the south of England and near Middlesborough.

Temperatures on Christmas Day will be between 8C and 12C for the Midlands to the south coast and from 2C to 9C in the north of England and Scotland

The Met Office has predicted some snow and ice initially, then heavy rain in the north on Christmas Eve.

It will be brighter further southeast with rain on Christmas Day and showers further north. Generally windy.

Met Office Christmas forecast

Conditions will be broadly unsettled from late Tuesday into Wednesday, with periods of showers and rain for many areas.

It will likely become milder again in the south, with a greater chance of cold further north, where some snow is possible over higher ground. Strong winds are also likely at times.

Met Office New Year forecast

The weather will remain unsettled with low pressure bringing breezy and wet conditions for many, but there will be some drier and brighter interludes.

Temperatures on New Year’s Day will range between 2C and 6C for the midlands to the south coast and from 0C to 5C in the north of England and Scotland.
