UK weather LIVE: Storm Kathleen unleashes flooding chaos with 29-hour Met Office warning


West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service warned people in Littlehampton of severe floodwaters in the wake of Storm Kathleen.

“Our crews are supporting rescue operations in Littlehampton near Ferry Road and Rope Walk where the River Arun has burst its banks, leading to severe flooding,” the emergency service said on X.

“Residents should remain in their properties if it is safe to do so and get as high as possible within their homes.”

Additionally, there is flooding at the Medmerry Park holiday village between Bracklesham and Selsey, where rescue workers are assisting residents.

According to West Sussex County Council, some people have been evacuated.

The fire service added: “Multiple crews are currently dealing with an incident of severe flooding at Medmerry holiday park between Bracklesham and Selsey. Anyone within the vicinity should get to high ground if possible, unless unable to leave their residence.”
