UK weather forecast: Britain blasted with eight-hour fog warning with huge delays expected

Britain has been blasted with an urgent eight-hour fog warning issued by the Met Office.

Forecasters have released the yellow alert for six regions of the UK on Wednesday morning.

The areas affected are Wales, Yorkshire and Humber, the East of England, the West Midlands and East Midlands and the North West.

The warning is in place from precisely 2.56am on October 25 – with fog finally expected to lift at around 11am.

A spokesperson revealed predicted that fog, dense in places, is expected to lead to some disruption throughout the morning.

Weather maps by another forecaster, WX Charts, show low levels of precipiation across the affected areas.

Areas of fog are expected to continue to develop this morning becoming dense with visibility falling to below 100 m in places.

This will lead to difficult driving conditions, slower journey times and some disruption.

The fog will slowly clear after sunrise but may take until late morning to do so in a few locations.

Delays to bus and train journeys are expected, while an amber weather warning has been dealt to London and the south east of England.

The Met Office forecast for today reads: “Rain in the south gradually clearing east through the day.

“Cloudy with rain at times across Scotland and northeast England, with further rain arriving into the far southwest.

“Bright elsewhere with some sunshine after the clearance of early morning fog.”
