UK weather: Brits battered by 'heavy rain' as 64 flood warnings and alerts issued

More than 60 flood warnings and alerts have been issued across the UK after Brits were battered by “heavy rain”. England faces two flood warnings and 60 flood alerts, the Environment Agency has said.

The two warnings, which mean flooding is expected, are in place in Hellingly & Horsebridge and at the North Sea at Roker.

In an update, the Environment Agency said: “Flooding is expected in this area. This means properties are at risk of flooding.

“Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions.

“Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have.”
