UK to be battered by thunderstorms as Met Office extends yellow weather warning


The Met Office has extended a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms as Brits are warned to prepare for heavy rain and strong winds. A number of warnings are in place across North East England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from 1pm until 9pm today. The forecaster is predicting some areas seeing rainfall of up to 40mm in just two hours, and “frequent lightning and strong, gusty winds will be additional hazards.”
