A private doctor working in the UK has revealed he is earning £600,000 per year, six times more than his NHS colleagues.
The revelation came when the 65-year-old doctor was interviewed on the street by a TikToker who asked him what he did for a living, how much he earned and how long he had been in his current job.
He revealed he had been a doctor ever since finishing medical school 40 years ago and said that putting his private and NHS work together he earned £600,000 per year.
The interviewer then replies by saying she believes young and older people should have more conversations about what they earn in order to ensure they are getting the best wage for their work.
Then the career expert intervenes and says people should get off TikTok and speak to older people in their profession and ask what they can do to get higher wages.
He said: “There’s a lot of heat around medicine in the UK and a lot of talk around how much doctors make in the beginning.
“But the funny thing is this doctor is saying how he’s making £600,000 a year, but I know people who work in the private sector as doctors who are making up to £250,000 per year.
“But they’re not on TikTok talking about it, that generation don’t have TikTok.
“If you speak to those people who know about how lucrative it can be, how you can still take care of your family and save lives.
“They will drop game on where it can be found.”
He finishes by saying he believes there is money in every career adding that people just need to know where to look for it.
But, the post divided opinions, with many people saying the doctor’s 40 years of experience were the reason he was on big money.
One commenter said: “He works private plus all his years of experience, of course his money is gonna be up.
“The point is NHS alone doesn’t pay him enough to not have to do private.”
But others said they wanted to know what is speciality was, with many followers suggesting doctors go into ophthalmology if they want a big salary.
