Shocking new weather maps have revealed when temperatures in the UK will dramatically fall back to zero degrees Celsius.
The maps from WXCharts show the mercury plummeting on April 19 to single-figure temperatures across the UK.
The coldest temperatures will be in Scotland where temperatures will fall to zero degrees in the Scottish Highlands. Elsewhere, around Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Inverness, temperatures will remain lower than four degrees.
Further south, temperatures are expected to remain low with the likes of London, Reading, and Southampton chilling in four and five degrees as the UK makes its way through Spring.
To the west, Wales too will experience very icy conditions as the mercury struggles to rise above single figures. In the south west, parts of Cornwall will be much milder and reach as high as 10 degrees in Penzance and in some towns on the county’s north coast.
Wind speeds are expected to be low, particularly in the south, south east, and south west of England and Wales. Further north, speeds will rise around Edinburgh and Wick.
The latest forecast marks another change in the UK’s weather after the Met Office announced that Storm Kathleen was due to hit the country this weekend.
The storm is expected to bring with it high winds and heavy rain over a dramatic weekend at the same time as parts of south east England and East Anglia enjoy a brief period of 20-degree heat.
While parts of the south will get sun, snow and heavy rain are predicted to fall in Scotland. Chief Meteorologist for the Met Office Matthew Lehnert explained: “Snow is expected to develop particularly over higher ground, during the early hours of Friday before easing during the morning.
“Accumulating snow is expected to mainly occur above around 200 metres, with a chance of temporary accumulations below this where precipitation becomes temporarily heavy.”
On the storm’s high winds, Deputy Chief Meteorologist Christoph Almond warned: “Gusts of 50 mph are expected quite widely on Saturday, while some exposed spots, particularly on the coast, will see 60 to 70 mph gusts with large waves also likely.”
Ahead of the storm battering the UK, the Met Office has issued a series of yellow weather warnings for parts of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Today:
An unsettled start, with outbreaks of rain. Hill snow across Scotland. Soon brightening up for central and southern areas with sunshine and showers, though the north will see further rain. Windy in the west. Feeling warm in any sunnier spots.
Tonight:
This evening and overnight we will see further rain spread northeastwards, with strong and gusty winds developing in the west as Storm Kathleen moves in. Rain largely clearing by dawn.
Saturday:
A windy day, especially in the west with severe gales along the coasts. Sunny spells for many, but some heavy showers across the northwest. Warm, especially in the southeast.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunshine and blustery showers on Sunday. Winds remaining strong in the north and west. Low pressure is likely to bring further rain and showers through Monday and Tuesday.
