UK and Norway sign landmark deal to thwart deadly undersea cable attacks from Russia

The United Kingdom and Norway have signed a groundbreaking deal aimed at preventing Russia’s destructive attacks on undersea cables. Defence Minister Ben Wallace emphasised the necessity for even closer coordination among their combined resources in response to the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline, according to a statement from the British government on Thursday.

Mr Wallace said the aim is to effectively identify and protect against threats in subsea environments, thus ensuring ongoing security in the North Atlantic region.

He said: “The attack on the Nord Stream pipeline has determined even closer collaboration across our collective assets to detect and defend against subsea threats and ensure continued North Atlantic security.”
