Two-year-old shot by stray bullet while playing outside at day care facility

A day care owner and authorities confirmed on Tuesday (May 23) that a two-year-old boy that was shot in the head by a stray bullet while playing outside the Utah facility is in a stable condition.

Lieutenant Clay Slaymaker has said that Spanish Fork Police think the bullet originated from a pellet or air gun shot from a farming field across the street west of the facility.  Currently there are no suspects, however a bullet hole can be spotted through the vinyl fence that surrounds the play area where the incident took place.

Owner of Leap Ahead Daycare Lara Mugleston has confirmed the shooting was at his Spanish Fork facility.  While children played in the fenced-in area outside of the day care, Mugleston said that two employees were outside on Monday afternoon when one of them noticed the toddler suddenly stumble with blood coming from his face.
