Premier League clubs are preparing for the January transfer window, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City expected to be on the lookout for new players as they chase title honours. The Gunners and the Reds both picked up another three points during the midweek round of fixtures, while the Citizens were defeated by Aston Villa.
Arsenal are now two points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table following a last-minute 4-3 victory over Luton on Tuesday night. Manchester City could also do with reinforcements following their 1-0 defeat to Villa. The Citizens allowed some of their star players to depart in the summer and currently look a shadow of the side they were during their treble-winning endeavours of the last campaign.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have picked up form and are now just three points behind City following a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night. The Red Devils have been linked with a whole host of players in January and could pull out the chequebook to keep their top four hopes alive.
