Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd eye two strikers, Arsenal in £51m talks, Newcastle double deal

Premier League clubs up and down the country will be hard at work behind the scenes as we enter the final week of the January transfer window. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle could be looking to thrash out a couple of late deals before the end of this month, with time running out for clubs to strengthen their squads for the rest of the campaign.

United are thought to be keen on landing at least one new striker, although Karim Benzema is not believed to be among the names under consideration at Old Trafford. The former Real Madrid ace has been linked with a move away from Saudi club Al-Ittihad but it has been reported that United, along with many other clubs, are unwilling to entertain his lucrative wage demands.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are yet to make any January signings but are reportedly in talks over a late deal for one of Mikel Arteta’s long-term targets. The Spaniard tried to bring Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi to north London a year ago and has been tipped to reignite his pursuit of the 24-year-old in the coming days.
