Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd exit, Chelsea close in on Benzema, Trippier latest

The pressure was eased on Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night as his side hammered Middlesbrough 6-1 to reach the League Cup final, but the club are still pursuing January deals. The Blues are being heavily linked with ex-Real Madrid man Karim Benzema, who is unhappy in Saudi Arabia.

Only a week remains for all teams to get transfers done, with Manchester United still looking at signings having let a host of players go out on loan. And Liverpool are also expected to bring in reinforcements amid their mini injury-crisis.

Newcastle meanwhile, are looking to make sales in order to comply with FFP regulations. But they have rejected a £12.8million bid for Kieran Tripper from Bayern Munich, with the German club expected to make a second bid today.

Over in France meanwhile, the saga continues around Kylian Mbappe. The star has reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Real Madrid, but is reportedly awaiting a final offer from PSG before making his decision.

A number of loan deals are also expected during the next seven days as clubs scramble to boost their squads for the remainder of the campaign.
