We are now into the final week of what has been a very quiet January transfer window so far. In 2023, Premier League sides spent £780.1million on players yet so far only £34.6m has been forked out.
The reason for the drop in spending is the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Although they have been in place since 2013, teams are taking them very seriously this year after Everton and Nottingham Forest breached the regulations.
That being said, business is expected to pick up this week as teams scramble to reinforce their squads before deadline day.
