Tourists killed in shooting and machete attack at popular holiday resort in Mexico


Two tourists have been killed in separate attacks in the same area of Mexico in less than a week.

The state of Oaxaca has put tourists on high alert following the two murders.

Victor Masson, a 27-year-old Canadian national, was shot dead in a car in the coastal town of Puerto Escondido, a well-known surf spot.

He was discovered on Monday and investigators have not yet found a motive for the murder.

On May 12, Benjamin Gamond, from Argentina, was killed with a machete in the town of Chacahua.

Officials have taken a suspect into custody, who is also accused of assaulting two other Argentine tourists who survived.
